Privacy Policy

Thai with Bee ("we", "us") is an educational web app that helps learners study Thai reading, writing, pronunciation, and conversation. This policy explains what information the app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.

We limit collection to what the app needs to work:

• Account information. If you sign in, we receive the details provided by your chosen sign-in method (for example, your email address and display name from Google). We do not receive your password.
• Learning progress. Lesson completion, quiz results, and badges are stored locally in your browser (localStorage) so your progress persists on your device.
• Voice preferences. The voice, speech rate, and volume you pick in Settings are stored locally in your browser.
• Generated audio cache. To speed up playback and reduce network use, pronunciations are cached in your browser's IndexedDB. You can clear this from your browser's site-data controls.
• Admin uploads (admins only). Signed-in admins can upload voice recordings. Those files and their metadata are stored in our backend so lessons can play them back.
• Technical logs. Standard request logs (such as IP address, user agent, and timestamps) may be recorded by our hosting and backend providers for security and reliability.

We do not knowingly collect payment information, precise location, or sensitive personal categories through this app.

• To provide lessons, quizzes, audio playback, and progress tracking.
• To authenticate accounts and protect admin-only features.
• To generate and cache Thai pronunciation audio.
• To diagnose errors, improve reliability, and prevent abuse.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data for advertising.

When the app needs to speak a Thai word or phrase, the text may be sent to a text-to-speech provider (for example, Google Cloud Text-to-Speech or a fallback model) to generate audio. Only the text to be spoken is sent — not your account details or progress. Providers process the request under their own terms and typically do not retain the text for training when used through their standard TTS APIs.

The app uses your browser's localStorage and IndexedDB to remember settings, learning progress, and cached audio. Authentication uses secure tokens stored by our auth provider. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

• Local progress and cache remain until you clear your browser data.
• Account records and admin-uploaded recordings are retained while your account is active. Ask us to delete your account and we will remove associated records within a reasonable period, except where we must keep limited records to meet legal or security obligations.

• Sign out at any time to stop associating activity with your account.
• Clear the app's site data in your browser to remove local progress, cached audio, and preferences.
• Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account data by contacting us using the address below.

Thai with Bee is designed for learners of all ages, including children learning to read Thai. When the app is used by a child, we expect a parent, teacher, or guardian to supervise account creation and any admin features. If you believe a child has provided information you would like removed, please contact us.

We use industry-standard practices such as HTTPS transport, hosted authentication, and role-based access controls to protect data. No service can guarantee perfect security; please use a strong, unique password on the account you sign in with.

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, by an in-app notice.
